Paul Hartzog was born in California,
in the late 1960’s. He
moved here to the Emerald Coast with his family just
prior to his senior year in high school. After graduating from
Choctawhatchee High School, Paul began a
small business in marine construction. He proceeded with his
education through college courses and various formal and informal
training, including the United States Air Force. Paul served as a crew chief
with the 33rd Fighter Squadron at Eglin Air Force base
for four years.
During his time with the military, Paul continued his college
education at night, volunteered to coach little league baseball,
basketball and soccer, and continued to build his marine
construction business.
In 1994, Paul married his wife, Correy, and started a
family. They now have
two boys, 14 year old Blake, and 12 year old Zachary. Decks N Such Marine, Inc.
continued to grow, and after completing his service in the United
States Air Force, Paul decided to pursue this dreams of being a
community leader and a business owner full-time.
Paul has worked hard to become a successful business
leader in his community.
He is currently a licensed Certified General Contractor and
owner of two successful construction companies. Decks N Such Marine, Inc., a
premier marine contractor in this area, and Silver Sands
Development, a residential and commercial building company. Both companies merged in

customer satisfaction and provide gainful employment for over 15
employees and dozens of local subcontractors. As the owner and founders,
Paul, along with his wife, Correy, oversee and participate in all
levels of their companies.

for, “Builder of the Year “for two consecutive years, 2000 and 2001,
and being selected as the Premier Builder/Contractor of the Emerald
Coast in 2005. Through his experiences, Paul has learned the
importance of strong organizational skills and a commitment to
complete customer satisfaction. These ideas are incorporated
throughout his life and give him a strong foundation for
leadership.
Correy has her degree in Architectural Design and
Construction Technology and also a degree in Computer Aided Drafting
(CAD/CAM) and has
extensive education and experience working with AutoCAD in
residential and commercial design, engineering, surveying, landscape
design as well as construction accounting.

community through professional organizations. He has held the following
positions: Board of Directors, Treasurer, Chairman of Community
Affairs, Executive Board, Parade of Homes, Remodelers Council, and
Long Range Planning.
Paul is a past President of the Marine Contractor’s
Association, member of the National Association of Home Builders,
and past member Board of Directors for the Eleanor
Johnson Youth Center. He has made
significant changes within the Marine Construction Industry to
include, working directly with state representatives to establish
specific workman compensation guidelines across the state of
Florida, to ensure homeowners and
commercial developers receive quality construction from licensed
contractors. In
addition, Paul envisioned and helped create the first ever
Fiberglass Seawall.
Paul
continuously works with voluntary organizations to improve the
surrounding communities.
He has volunteered his own time and his companies’ resources
to help individuals and groups within the community. For example, he participated
in the construction of the Children’s Advocacy
Center, helped
build a multitude of handicap ramps for the disabled, completed
renovations for an elderly citizen home, and orchestrated the
building of baseball and football field at the Fort Walton Beach
Housing Authority.
Paul Hartzog has certainly achieved many of his goals,
yet, each time he successfully reaches one goal, he instantly
creates a new one.
